vCommuteX iPhone 14 Pro Max (6.7”) MagSafe Compatible Wallet Case

Not sure why the reviews are missing the main aspect of this upping the case game, like MASSIVELY. I’ve used various cases over the years and this is by far the best in terms of design and the execution isn’t a 100% but it’s a great case. I travel by public transport everyday and for starters this is super functional and slim. I use my virtual card to pay for the MTA in NYC and don’t need to physically pull out my cards which can be a bit of a hassle especially when it’s cold out or when you are rushing to catch the train. Apart from that annoyance this case does the trick. The cool thing is the wallet detaches to use Mag Safe which is so so cool. I’ve had a Mag Safe charger for years but haven’t been able to use it because of other similar cases being bulky and not compatible. These guys solved that problem by thinking out of the box and making a detachable section to the case. Having used it for a few days now I can say that I’m a fan

I just received it and installed it. Wallet part sticks out a bit. I think we all know that. However, bottom part of the wallet sticks out a bit more than the top part of it. You can press the bottom of it and there is quite a travel there. It looks like the magnet/inner side of it is bowed out. It was completely flat it should not rock back and forth while installed. 3 card capacity is good for my ID, a transit card and a credit/debit card. Overall, good build quality besides the inner side of the card wallet. Just be aware this is not a slim case. So it will be a little bit bulky.

I was a little disappointed that the wallet doesn’t sit flush but I understand why. If it sat flush then you’d have a difficult time removing the wallet to use the MagSafe charger. I still recommend getting this case as it is very durable and easily holds 3 cards.

I’ve been using vCommute cases for my iPhone for the past 4 generations of them. Maybe 5…. Every year, when I upgrade my iPhone, I buy the updated vCommute for it. There’s no better option out there in my opinion than these. The biggest….maybe even the ONLY downside I’ve had with them…is the inability to use MagSafe wireless charging with the case….for obvious reasons. The leather wrapped metal backing…..and the cards it holds….makes it impossible to use for wireless charging, without taking it out of the case. Honestly, the convenience of having my cards on the phone as my wallet was enough to live with plugging it in directly to charge. Along comes this one….I was thrilled when I looked on Vena’s site shortly after the iPhone 14 was announced, to see this new generation of vCommute. A detachable magsafe wallet so the phone can be charged on a wireless charger. Absolutely….fantastic design! I pre-ordered mine directly from Vena’s website with an expected delivery date of late October…but that got pushed back a little due to supply issues. It arrived today. So for my review….my initial impressions left me, frankly…..pretty let down. The wallet itself doesn’t have a very strong hold to the phone. It’s very easy to separate it. I wouldn’t want it to be super hard….but I have doubts I’ll be able to use it on the magnetic mount in my car because a bump will likely cause the wallet to come off and the phone to drop. Mind you, I haven’t tested it…but that’s how weak the magnetic attraction feels. Secondly, as you can see from the pics, the wallet doesn’t sit flush with the case. There’s a profound difference between the back of the wallet and the back of the phone case. It feels awkward in my hand and it catches my jeans as I slide it into my back pocket. It also wobbles a bit at the bottom…..as it doesn’t seem to sit flush on the phone. This is true when it’s empty and when there’s cards in it. The last pic I’ve attached, I’m pushing down on the bottom corner. Mind you, these aren’t complete deal breakers for me. I’ve had it on and I’ve been using it as normal all day today and it’s been a 3 star kind of experience. The only mishap I had was when I attached it to a magnet I have mounted in the bathroom (Don’t judge…it’s convenient), I had to catch it when the MagSafe wallet let go. I just need to be a bit more deliberate in how I attach it to a mount with this case, to make sure it doesn’t bounce the phone off the wallet while the wallet sticks to the magnet I’m putting it on. I’ll be giving it a solid chance and I’ll put it through its paces through the next few weeks…..If I remember, or if I have more to say about it, I’ll post an update. I’m looking forward to using MagSafe charging….and maybe I’ll buy a MagSafe charger for the car too, so it’ll be less likely to fall off because of the weak magnets on the wallet. If MagSafe isn’t that important to you, they also have the more traditional version of their vCommute case without the detachable MagSafe wallet, which is stellar! I pre-ordered that one too and it arrived a couple weeks ahead of this one. ZERO complaints about that one. Solid, excellent case, just like the previous models.

Detachable wallet does not lay flush with the rest of the phone case. Can detach so easily. Makes me nervous if I have connected to my bike phone holder or car holder that the phone will drop. Have always been a loyal customer for every iPhone case they’ve had. All cases have always been SOLID. This case makes me worry. Hopefully I can update review in a couple of weeks to see how it’s working out.
